Certified High-Conflict Separation and Divorce Consultant
&
Qualified Advanced Family Mediator
"My life position revolves around not trying to catch up with lost time but rather making sure no more time is lost"
Rosana Khan is the founder and operator of Separation and Divorce Consulting in Victoria, British Columbia.
Her work is rooted in lived experience—navigating her own high‑conflict divorce in 2001, self‑representing, and ultimately securing full primary parenting of her two young children. That journey ignited her commitment to supporting others facing similarly overwhelming separations.
Rosana holds a degree in Child and Youth Care with a specialization in Child Protection (2007, with distinction) and brings 18 years of frontline experience working with children, youth, and families in high‑conflict Family Law matters. As a former social worker with the Ministry of Children and Family Development, she has spent the majority of her career managing high‑conflict individuals, facilitating Family Group Conferences, and supporting families through traumatic transitions.
In 2023, Rosana expanded her professional training, earning her Divorce Coach Certification, completing advanced training in managing high‑conflict personalities, and becoming certified as a High‑Conflict Separation and Divorce Consultant (California). She also trained as an Advanced Family Mediator through the Justice Institute of BC and Family Mediation Canada.
A Separation and Divorce Consultant is a well‑established role in the United States and an emerging practice in Canada. Rosana works primarily one‑to‑one, offering strategic, practical, and conflict‑informed support throughout every stage of a client’s separation or court process. From documentation and communication strategies to parenting plans, financial analysis, and court‑form preparation, she provides the structure and clarity clients need when navigating a high‑conflict ex‑partner.
Rosana’s approach is grounded in transparency, honesty, and unwavering advocacy for those whose voices are often minimized or dismissed. With firsthand knowledge of the emotional and legal battles involved—both from her own divorce and supporting her partner through his—she walks beside clients through the chaos, helping them regain control, confidence, and stability.
With deep care and strategic expertise, Rosana supports clients through even the most complex situations. Reach out to discover whether working with a consultant is the right next step for you.
Rosana passionately believes parents are the experts on their children's and family's needs. After separation, communication tends to break down despite parents who have agreed or believed that if they ever separated, it would be amicable. It is traumatic for all family members when they suddenly find themselves in the position of being unable to communicate with their 'ex' effectively. Mediation provides a platform for guided conversations aimed at reaching a mutually agreed-upon consent agreement and ensuring the best interests of their children, as applicable. Competing interests can be challenging to manage without a neutral third party to facilitate understanding of each other's positions. Mediation provides a safe and open opportunity to make decisions that are right for you and your family. Mediation offers you the opportunity to make your own decisions, rather than a stranger (judge/arbitrator). Rosana's approach to facilitating mediation is inclusive of:
> Maintaining your children's best interests at all times > Screening for power imbalances and domestic violence
> Building respectful communication and boundaries > Facilitating positive and forward-moving dialogue
> Remaining a neutral/impartial third party > Respecting cultural differences
Mediation Approaches:
An interest-based and facilitative approach, incorporating a hybrid of evaluative and narrative mediation styles.

"Rosana Khan is a graduate of the High Conflict Divorce Consulting Certification Program. This intensive course focuses on the difficult dynamics of high-conflict divorce and child custody battles. Our program focuses on the intricacies of post-separation abuse, and our consultants are trained that it only takes one toxic, abusive, or personality-disordered individual to create a high-conflict situation. Rosana Khan will be an amazing resource and advocate for those attempting to navigate the family court system. It was an honor to have Rosana Khan in our program, and I look forward to cheering her on in her advocacy work."
